NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - There's new advice for older men who want to preserve their sexual function: have sex, and have it often, researchers say. In a study that followed nearly 1,000 older Finnish men for five years, researchers found that those who were regularly having sex at the start of the study were at lower risk of developing erectile dysfunction (Buy Viagra) by the study's end. In fact, the more often the men had sex, the lower their Buy Generic Viagra risk. The implication, say the researchers, is that men should be encouraged to stay sexually active into their golden years. Dr. Juha Koskimaki and colleagues at the University of Tampere in Finland report the findings in the American Journal of Medicine. The study included 989 men who were between the ages of 55 and 75 at the outset. Overall, those who said they had sex less than once per week were twice as likely to develop ED over the next five years as men who had sex at least once a week. Furthermore, compared with men who had sex three or more times per week, their Order Viagra risk was increased nearly four-fold. A number of factors contribute to ED development, many of which could also affect a man's sexually activity -- such as age, diabetes and heart disease. However, after taking account of those factors, sexual activity itself remained linked to Cheap Viagra risk, Koskimaki's team found. It may be a matter of "use it or lose it," according to the researchers. Just as exercise boosts physical fitness, they note, regular sexual activity may help a man preserve his erectile function. buy viagra online occurs when there are problems with blood flow to the penis. Regular sexual activity, Koskimaki's team writes, may help maintain healthy blood vessel function in the erectile tissue. SOURCE: American Journal of Medicine, July 2008.

American Beauty

After last night’s late night (bed at 3am), a late morning, followed by toast and hot cross buns left over from Easter weekend. We were just wondering what we should do with the day when the phone rang. It was Mark, returning a voicemail I’d left him yesterday. Ja wanted to come into Chelmsford to [...]

Keeping a safe distance

Saturday, April 6th, 2002

Having already rung Comet to ask where my washing machine was, I spent from three until half past rather regretting it and wondering what I’d say if I had to call the police and explain to them that there was a dead electrician in my kitchen - a knife protruding from his back and a [...]

End of the short week

We get a lot of letters asking for bits of kit at the mag. Mostly they come on those blue airmail sheets that have the stamp already printed on them. Mostly they come from refugee camps. Mostly they are from kids who claim they want to learn how to use computers so they can get [...]

Thursday… again

I thought the breakfast show call wasn’t coming this morning. I sat by the phone, stroking the cat and wondering whether I should call them, or whether the phone wasn’t working. As it turns out, they had been calling the ISDN line at home, not having realised I’m cat sitting. It was switched off, of [...]

Learning about myself

Wednesday, April 3rd, 2002

I had one of those meetings today that you come away from feeling very pensive. Plenty of things to think about, almost all about myself.
I had agreed to meet with Dr Adam Reed, a guy from the University of Surrey who has been interviewing a lot of people who keep online diaries. David put him [...]

Strange stats

There is a lot of policing going on in Chelmsford tonight. Uniformed officers watching everyone get off the trains and standing by the ticket barriers at the station. Sirens everywhere as I walked to the car park and drove to the gym. Then, on the way home, a very discrete police car almost smashed into [...]

Daylight saving time

Monday, April 1st, 2002

The clocks moving forward fooled both Paul and myself on Sunday morning, so it was a shock when we realised that we were having breakfast at twenty to two, not the slightly more respectable (although still rather late) 12:40 we thought it was. As Mark was coming down from London mid-afternoon, that left us with [...]
