NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - There's new advice for older men who want to preserve their sexual function: have sex, and have it often, researchers say. In a study that followed nearly 1,000 older Finnish men for five years, researchers found that those who were regularly having sex at the start of the study were at lower risk of developing erectile dysfunction (Buy Viagra) by the study's end. In fact, the more often the men had sex, the lower their Buy Generic Viagra risk. The implication, say the researchers, is that men should be encouraged to stay sexually active into their golden years. Dr. Juha Koskimaki and colleagues at the University of Tampere in Finland report the findings in the American Journal of Medicine. The study included 989 men who were between the ages of 55 and 75 at the outset. Overall, those who said they had sex less than once per week were twice as likely to develop ED over the next five years as men who had sex at least once a week. Furthermore, compared with men who had sex three or more times per week, their Order Viagra risk was increased nearly four-fold. A number of factors contribute to ED development, many of which could also affect a man's sexually activity -- such as age, diabetes and heart disease. However, after taking account of those factors, sexual activity itself remained linked to Cheap Viagra risk, Koskimaki's team found. It may be a matter of "use it or lose it," according to the researchers. Just as exercise boosts physical fitness, they note, regular sexual activity may help a man preserve his erectile function. buy viagra online occurs when there are problems with blood flow to the penis. Regular sexual activity, Koskimaki's team writes, may help maintain healthy blood vessel function in the erectile tissue. SOURCE: American Journal of Medicine, July 2008.

Poor Oscar

Thursday, April 10th, 2003

Poor Oscar. His hair has been falling out for weeks. The vet says it is some kind of allergy and has been putting off sending him to the skin specialist until Sal’s tried everything else.
By this morning, though, everything else had been tried, so he was carted off across London in his little cat carrier [...]

An act of sheer stupidity

Thursday, April 10th, 2003

In my last entry I said I hoped the British and American forces would let their actions speak for themselves and reassure the Arab world. Acts of sheer stupidity such as the draping of the American flag on the landmarks of Baghdad, will do nothing to further that cause.

The fall of Baghdad

Wednesday, April 9th, 2003

What a strange day. No moreso than for the people of Baghdad, of course, who today have been pulling down the statues of Saddam Hussein throughout their city.
The war isn’t over, of course, but it’s widely accepted that Saddam’s regime has come to an end. The Iraqi ambassador to the UN has said the ‘game’ [...]

Spy

Monday, April 7th, 2003

Sitting on the train this morning, a guy got on at Shenfield and sat down beside me. He pulled out a copy of Personal Computer World and started leafing through the pages. I have mixed feelings whenever that happens. On the one hand it’s very rewarding to see someone reading the mag. One the other, [...]

Novel questions

* ‘Do we get to know what the novel is about?’ — Pete
* ‘You are a fast worker on that novel. What’s it about, pray tell?’ — Sharon
* ‘Wow, 88% done. It won’t be long before we can search Amazon and pre-order. Any sneak clues as to what’s the book about/title yet Nik?’ — Kev

Lots of eating out

Sunday, April 6th, 2003

Friday I was the boss, so when everyone else packed up spot on six I did the same and went home for a very retro evening. I’d been sent one of those old Atari joysticks from the 80s that have had their insides ripped out and replaced by clever electronics so they have 10 Atari [...]

Writing and lunching

Thursday, April 3rd, 2003

A whole day of testing and writing. It’s hard work, but I enjoy it. It makes me feel creative again, which I feel less and less as I spend more and more time commissioning and meeting.
It spurred me into action tonight, too. I came home and made a quick dinner so I’d have time to [...]

Start of a brand new month

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2003

The first day after we close an issue always feels light. Yesterday we sent the last page off to be printed, and went for a drink to celebrate.
Today, then, was the start of a fresh new month with new deadlines, new features and reviews, and new things to do. It was also a day to [...]

Sonet 18

Tuesday, April 1st, 2003

For years London Underground has been filling the gaps between the ads on its tube trains with poems. Every so often they collect them into a book which is sold in every bookshop in the city.
This morning, riding the Jubilee Line from Stratford, I came across a new one. It had been left anonymous, and [...]
