Holler for the eurodollar

Tony Blair apparently wants to use his post-war popularity to poll the nation on joining the euro, believing that a khaki referendum has more chance of succeeding.
That’s rather naive, isn’t it?
There’s such rabid and unfortunate Euro- (and euro-) phobia in the popular press at the moment that it has practically no chance of success. Indeed, a poll published by the No Campaign shows that just 23 percent would vote in favour - a considerable drop since before the war.
It’s unfortunate, but it seems Tony Blair is stuck between the proverbial rocks and hard places. Supporting America over Iraq, contrary to what many European heavyweights and the UN wanted, has done much to damage his drive towards a more unified Europe. If this proves anything, it’s the fact that he can’t straddle both camps. He’s going to have to make a decision sooner or later, and I hope it’s in the direction of a federal Europe.
But I’m bored of euro polls now. We’ve had so many of them and they really don’t tell us anything other than the fact that the country is as divided and undecided as ever. A more interesting poll would give voters the chance to pick their new currency from a list of two - the euro or the US Dollar.
I’m guessing the euro sceptic press would have no trouble aligning itself with America once again.

Why cant we just stick with pounds as our currency?

The US is switching to color print on it’s currency to help limit counterfitting. Some say it resembles Euro-money or the Euro-dollar, but I’ve never seen the Euro-dollar. Where can I see what the different Euro bills look like?
