Well, it’s been a busy couple of days. My eBay delvery arrived yesterday, so I’m uncrossing those fingers. Actually, it didn’t quite arrive. I missed it and found a card poked through the door so had to go pick it up, but at least it’s here. And going into town to collect it meant I could take the iBook to the library for a change of scene on the writing front.
It’s years since I’ve tried to work somewhere like that, and now I remember why - it was so noisy! People walking around all over the place. Shelf-stackers pushing around trolleys. Some irritating lecturer guy a football pitch length away have such a loud conversation about the ‘art’ in the corner that everyone around me was tutting and huffing.
(Actually, I joined in with the tutting so I wouldn’t feel left out so I’m being a bit of a hypocrite there).
I was glad when the three hours were over any my package was ready for collection, so I could come back home and work in peace and quiet.
Despite the distractions, though, I broke my record and wrote 7,061 words, which took me well over my target for the week of 25,000. I added another 5,202 to that today for a grand total of 31,520. Suddenly I feel like I’m presenting a telethon.
I just hope I can keep up the momentum and motivation when I go back to work next week and come home tired when I know that writing will be the last thing I want to do.
Oh, and the experimental facial hair came off yesterday, too. I was going to leave it until Monday since I was only growing it for the amusement of the office, but it annoyed me so much it had to go. I didn’t even take a picture of it before I did the deed, so there is no evidence. Still, I did what I promised - grew it for a full two weeks. It looked naff, though. First time and last, I think.
Colchester today. Lots of talk of peace marches in the town on the radio, but nothing around upon arrival. Perhaps becase arrival was about 1.30 but the rally was noon.
