After a bit of to-ing and fro-ing I decided not to go to the gym last night in favour of going this morning, so I would have felt very guilty if I’d not made it. Fortunately I did, so I have been guilt-free all day.
We (Paul and I) didn’t make it very early. We were up in good time, and had a light breakfast, but got caught up in the washing up, and helping relatives decide on new televisions, so there was a certain amount of time-consuming measuring going on.
All things sorted, we eventually made it there by noon, and bumped into Nigel who was hovering around by the weights. I ran and cycled until one, then bumped into him again in the changing room where we we chatted about new year and being back at work. I told him how empty the Army had been, and he said that he hasn’t been there for ages.
It sounds like all of the regulars are deserting it.
Paul went into town to meet his grandfather, so I came home to get on with jobs. I’ve been going through the whole of last year’s diary and tidying up the grammar and spelling so that it reads well. I’m not changing what’s online, just creating a separate offline file so that there’s a complete record of everything since June.
It’s more time-consuming than I thought it would be, running to over 90,000 words, which is the length of an average novel. On A4, it spreads across 130 pages, which is not bad going for seven months’ journal-keeping.
I broke off just before half nine and went around to Paul’s for dinner and a video. We watched Shooting Fish, which is incredibly old now in a mid-nineties kind of way, and was a bit irritating. Correction - the American in it was a bit irritating. The rest of it was just a bit humdrum.
