It’s truly incredible how inconsiderate some people can be. I met Midnight Weatherman Chris on the train home and all was going well until just before Romford Dog Statium when we slowed to a crawl and then stopped altogether. We heard the driver’s cabin door open, which is always a bad sign, and then he announced that some stupid woman was sitting in the middle of the track in front of the InterCity ahead of us and was refusing to move until the police arrived. Very Penelope Pitstop. If I’d been driving the train I would have kept on nudging her forward. She’d have shifted soon enough then.

I had been hoping to get to the gym as I was feeling rather guilty that I haven’t been since Monday, but I’ve got so much work on I really needed to make it a short trip and then get back home to get on with it. We sat there for forty minutes. I was lucky I had my notebook with me so I could get on with my group test but by the time we got back to Chelmsford it was far too late for the gym.

The rest of today was rather better, though. I finished the awards feature - all but one page - and picked the food for the meal. As many vegetarian choices as fishy / meaty options, which was good. All I need to do now is get my script written and then that’s another job out of the way.

I emailed the Hitachi PR guy to remind him he promised more details about this trip to Berlin weeks back. It’s only a day away now and I still don’t know who I’m supposed to be meeting at Stanstead.

Oh, I sent the last batch of screen shots off for the book, too, so hopefully that’s the last I’ll hear of that until the proofs come back. It will be nice to get a little break from it. It’s been on my list of things-that-must-be-done for months, although in all fairness there was so much faffing around from the other people involved I could have written it ten times over by now.

After the whole late-train no-gym thing I had convinced myself I would come home and do some sit-ups to asuage my guilt, but it hasn’t happened. I’m too tired. Everything seems to have happened at the same time this week - first group test I’ve written in ages is due, deadline for software, job interview, Gordon away so I’m doing tomorrow’s show on my own, away on Friday, so less time in the office, and then delayed trains.

Next week will be better.

And Monday is a bank holiday. I can’t wait. :o)
