A rare entry about work

ABC. It stands for many things. Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Alcoholic Beverage Control (in California, at least) and, perhaps most important of all, the Audit Bureau of Circulations.
The Audit Bureau of Circulations is the organisation that counts up how many magazines you have sold and gives you a certificate you can proudly show to your advertisers when you are selling them pages. Every six or twelve months, a huge swathe of the UK’s magazines - everything from comics and womens’ mags to porn and computer mags - submits its details and spends a tense few weeks or months waiting to hear how they have done in comparison to the competition.
Well, today the results for the first six months of the year were published.
And it was good news. Excellent, in fact, making us officially the best-selling magazine in our market. So, that was good enough reason to break open the champagne - something that is happening with increasing regularity - and toast our success. Short speeches, multiple refills and not much to eat saw me sloping off home with a headache as the group split up. It was a happy afternoon and the news is good for those who are leaving us for pastures new - they can say they went out on a high.

Hey Nik, well done with the ABC. Your magazine is a very good read although I read Computeractive more regularly (sister mag?) because it tends to be easier for the casual reader who just wants quick reads on the train. I would be interested to know, who the both mag’s target readers are. When I read Computer Active I get the idea it’s target is 16-28s with low attention spans whereas PCW is for the more mature computer user maybe 25 to 40? I am right.

Congrats. I’m a repeat subscriber from the 16-28 age-group

Sorry, my previous comment Re; PCW/Computer Active was supposed to read,
am I right? and not “I am right”.
