A very good trail in the breakfast show this morning, spoilt only slightly by the fact that the studio couldn’t get through to my ISDN box for some reason. Still, we reverted to the phone and it was chatty and consise, with just enough time to get the message across in the run up to the news.

It was a good way to start what turned out to be an exceptionally busy day. We relaunched the PCW web site this afternoon, to coincide with the new issue of the mag coming out tomorrow. It’s taken a lot of work over several months to get it together, but now that it’s complete it was certainly worth the effort. Hopefully it should attract plenty of traffic.

So, it was a case of fitting in last minute tweaks on that between editing a mammoth group test and sitting through a planning meeting in the afternoon. Nasty revelation there - the deadline on my feature if far shorter than I’d expected. Erk!

This evening’s show went very well.

Although Gordon was 11 hours behind the UK, on the fringe of some golden sunny beach on Hawaii where it’s 86 degrees (about 30F) rather than a rainy London, he joined us on the phone to chat about his travels. He bumped into some Nintendo people in his hotel so of course asked them about the Gamecube, and even managed to check in for his London to LA flight from his computer in his lounge the night before. So much for heightened airport security - when he arrived he only had to drop off his bags and he was done. I’m not sure I’m entirely happy with that arrangement.

A quick break for the travel, then Lucas Tyler on the phone from Toronto. A very international show. Lucas really fun to interview - very friendly, natural, relaxed and easy to chat to. He came across well and answered all of my questions about Naked News. Unfortunately the site is blocked at ITN, which I suspect is the case in a lot of places, but in spite of that it apparently achieves around six million visitors a month.

Rupert came in to do the news. It was his last visit as he’s off to live in Italy for six months so he can concentrate on writing his book. I’m very envious. He will also be missed.

No new German words learnt today. Spent the journey in to work consolidating what I’d already learnt.

Was wollen Sie heute abent essen?
