NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - There's new advice for older men who want to preserve their sexual function: have sex, and have it often, researchers say. In a study that followed nearly 1,000 older Finnish men for five years, researchers found that those who were regularly having sex at the start of the study were at lower risk of developing erectile dysfunction (Buy Viagra) by the study's end. In fact, the more often the men had sex, the lower their Buy Generic Viagra risk. The implication, say the researchers, is that men should be encouraged to stay sexually active into their golden years. Dr. Juha Koskimaki and colleagues at the University of Tampere in Finland report the findings in the American Journal of Medicine. The study included 989 men who were between the ages of 55 and 75 at the outset. Overall, those who said they had sex less than once per week were twice as likely to develop ED over the next five years as men who had sex at least once a week. Furthermore, compared with men who had sex three or more times per week, their Order Viagra risk was increased nearly four-fold. A number of factors contribute to ED development, many of which could also affect a man's sexually activity -- such as age, diabetes and heart disease. However, after taking account of those factors, sexual activity itself remained linked to Cheap Viagra risk, Koskimaki's team found. It may be a matter of "use it or lose it," according to the researchers. Just as exercise boosts physical fitness, they note, regular sexual activity may help a man preserve his erectile function. buy viagra online occurs when there are problems with blood flow to the penis. Regular sexual activity, Koskimaki's team writes, may help maintain healthy blood vessel function in the erectile tissue. SOURCE: American Journal of Medicine, July 2008.

Awards ceremony

Woke up feeling very depressed about this whole terrorist attack thing. It was all the papers were talking about, and every newspaper seemed to have the same front-page picture of the World Trade Centre in flames. Had two rather self-serving emails about it in the office - one from a company saying ‘hey, all our people are OK and we’re opening some new offices so we can carry on with business as usual’ and another from an Internet service provider claiming to be doing a public service by opening up a chat forum where everyone can talk about it ‘to help us cope’. To rack up their counter hits, more like.

So, it was feeling rather subdued that I made my way into London on a delayed train and popped into the office for a glass of water into which I could drop some rescue remedy. I had to be at the restaurant, Ormonds, by 10 for a rehearsal of the Awards ceremony, and found the door five minutes late. I had no way of knowing it was the back door so stood there ringing the bell for a further five minutes before going around the other side on the off-chance that it was open.

The first guests arrived early, of course, so we didn’t get a chance to rehearse, but all in all the whole thing went very well. Publisher Sean did a short speech, then we ate, and then he introduced me (as Acting Editor) to present the awards. I steamed through them, knowing full well nobody would want to sit there all afternoon while I blathered on and apart from a few PowerPoint cock-ups and the point where I announced Adobe Photoshop to have won the category that Macromedia Dreamweaver had won I think it all went rather well.

Lots of complements from advertisers, suppliers and even our sales team afterwards, saying I’d paced it well, and Nick from Mesh even asked if I’d been on a course, which was nice.

They turfed us all out at half four and most people got sucked into the Red Lion pub, but after a day out of the office yesterday I went back to check my email with Riyad and found book proofs from (book) Publisher Joyce waiting to be ammended. She’s put LOADS of questions on them. It’s going to take quite a while to go through them and she wants them back by Friday (which of course means getting them in the post tomorrow). I’ll just have to do as much as I can on an email so she can at least sub the copy, and then post the proofs back over the weekend.

I’m doing the show on my own tomorrow, assuming Gordon’s Geneva trip is still on.

Life is busy.

I went through a green (yes GREEN) light on the way back from the station and got my picture taken by one of those Gatso cameras. Paul was behind me so he saw it happen. I’ve been caught by that camera before, although last time I’m pretty sure it was red and I was just half asleep. I didn’t get a fine then, so fingers-crossed nothing will happen this time. I wonder if you can appeal.
