More than anything yesterday morning I would have liked to sleep in. After two days away I could have done with some catching up. I’m moving my mortgage, though, to a different building society with a better deal, so I had to get up and drive over to Shenfield in time for a half-nine meeting. I don’t think I can have looked too good, as the woman guiding me through the forms offered mugs of coffee every ten minutes.

One of the forms had a very intrusive, although not entirely unexpected question:
