Poor old Gordon. He got back from his eclipse-watching trip to Africa yesterday feeling horrid, so I ended up doing the show alone again this evening. I was feeling knackered because I woke up so early, aware that I HAD to hear the alarm so I’d be awake to trail the show on the breakfast show. Paul heard me and called as soon as I’d finished to say I sounded like I was still half asleep.
The rest of the day was pretty crammed, with loads of proofs to sign off before I go away.
I met Sue for lunch again. She and Danny fly back to Canada tomorrow so we went to the Thai restaurant on Wardour Street. It wasn’t bad. The rice was good and sticky, and the spring rolls were great, but I wasn’t concentrating on my green curry and ended up munching a rather painful mouthful of chillis.
The PR company has recommended taking American Dollars travellers’ cheques to Korea. Apparently you get a good rate of exchange on them, and of course they’re safer than currency. I normally use M&S to change money, but they only had huge denominations, so popped down to my bank, who seemed to think that American Dollars were obscure enough to require three days notice and advanced ordering. They’d be ready for collection half way through my trip. I’m starting to think my shift to an Internet bank was a good move.
They closed down PC Direct yesterday, and sent round this email.
