I extracted my travelogue from my Handspring today and pasted it into a document (I would say Word document, but I’m an Openoffice convert). It came to 24 pages of A4, and that was with narrow margins.

14,000 words in six days, written on a PDA. Hmmm… Is that obsessive?

I’ve printed it for editing on the train, although as it’s only for my own consumption perhaps I ought to leave it in its raw state.

Susie was back from her travels this week, too, and she brought far classier food for the office than I did. I’d picked the usual - chocolate (Hippo Snacks and Mini Dickman because they had amusing names, and some Katzensomethingorother because they had kittens on the box) - but Susie treated us all to a cheese and tea party this afternoon, with four different types of Sardinian cheese and small almond biscuits.

One of the cheeses looked like a cow’s udder but tasted fantastic. Don’t think I’ve had Sardinian cheese before.

This all followed a rather bizarre Limahl-hunting session. We came across a Kajagoogoo CD in a filing tray, and put it on while we hunted down Limahl sites to see what he’s been up to since the 80s.

Best of the lot, not surprisingly, is limahl.co.uk. Seems he’s been doing well away from the UK, co-hosting Miss Slovakia with Samantha Fox, and appearing on the Norwegian version of Big Brother.

He’s far better looking since he got rid of his 1984 hair.

Of course, one thing led to another and we ended up on Melanie Griffith’s site. It’s… ummm… errr…

A strange day, all in all. I’m feeling very tired. Two late nights after a week of travelling have left me worn out and I came close to falling asleep on both the journey in and the journey home. Not such a problem in the mornings, but I know that I’m too deep a sleeper to wake up at Chelmsford on the way home and will undoubtedly end up in Colchester or beyond.

I tried a Palm PDA , couldn’t get on and susequently sold it on within a few weeks. How on earth you managed 14,000 words whilst on holiday?!
Is your PDA one with a keypad?
