Christmas dinners

Today was one of those unusual mornings where I woke up very early (well, within 30 minutes of the alarm first going off) and was up in time to make some breakfast that I packed into my bag and took into work. It was far more than I usually eat, but I felt starved when I’d finished. Perhaps because I’d only put a sensible amount of marg into the rolls instead of the stockpile you get in Benjy’s. That’s probably a good thing, though - last night I decided only to eat healthy things until Christmas. That resolution lasted until precisely 12.30 when I had my first Christmas lunch (does that count as Christmas?)
Macromedia was having a gathering of a few journalists at L’Odeon on Regent Street. Very nice, and the most fantastic Christmas pudding ever. Not so good on the vegetarian choices, though, so I was glad I could eat the fish. It’s French, though, so perhaps that’s to be expected. Will was there so it was a good chance to catch up on chat and gossip until he had to go back to the office for meetings.
I spent much of the morning’s editorial meeting slicing up new phone lists to stick on our monitors. With so many team changes over the last couple of months the ones we had were very out of date. Not bad for a first effort, I don’t think. Font perhaps a little large for the bezels of the smaller monitors to cope with, but neat and readable and nice straight edges.
Left bang on six, intending to catch a nice fast train back to the gym, but everything was held up by points problems in Manor Park or something, and a backlog of trains between there and London. In the end I got there about quarter to eight and unpacked my gym bag to find soaking wet, freezing cold shorts. I’d taken them out of the washer last night and hung them up in the bathroom to dry. They felt fine when I took them down this morning, but that was only on the outside. Inside they were still wet. They sat in a cold car all day and froze me for the first ten minutes of wearing, after which it looked like I’d wet myself every time I sat down.
Could that be why it was always so easy to get on the equipment I wanted?
