A very nice morning off work. Popped into Chrysalis to see LBC people I’ve not seen since presenting the last edition of London this Week just before Christmas. Six months now. How time flies.

Had the full guided tour treatment, though all the LBC, Heart and LBC News studios. What a difference to back in the ITN days. No coffee stains on the walls. No grotty computers here and there linking up the studios and control rooms. It’s all in pristine condition, and the phone system is fab. It’s unbelievable how much information it gives you about who is calling from where.

The Heart studios are rather groovy. Glass-fronted, and with famous autographs scrawled all over the walls. A glitter ball spins around in the rack room, throwing dots of white light into the studios and production area.

Made my way slowly back into town and across to Covent Garden where I sat with coffee reading for an hour, then wandered into the office for the afternoon. I am glad I don’t have too much on at the moment, because I’m feeling dreadful. It’s a cold, I’m sure, just waiting to bloom. At the moment it’s hiding in my knees and ankles and making them ache, so no doubt it’ll be working its way up towards my nose over the next 24 hours.

I shall fight back with vitamin C.

That put a dampner on the whole gym business this evening as I flopped around from machine to machine feeling hot and bothered. It didn’t help that the spinning class was making more noise than a French wedding, whooping and crying on their bikes with the doors flung wide open.

Yet another reason to avoid that class.
