It’s not been a bad week, all things considered. Perhaps it’s because it was the first week back from holiday. Last night, though, I was totally wiped out. As soon as I got on the train I could feel all my energy disappearing and by the time I got home my legs were already losing their ability to keep me upright. That was in spite of a rather large fruit intake mid-afternoon, after we’d finished using practically every kind we could find for another photo session. I came home and had to force myself off the settee to do housy-type jobs before going round to Paul’s for dinner.

I spent this morning in bed, writing up a preliminary picture list for the Dorling Kindersley book. It’s going to need more ideas than I first thought. I’ve got a page full of ideas - it’s just a matter of working out where I’m going to get the information from to pad them out properly.

Came home and baked bread, although it was all a bit touch-and-go. I think my yeast is getting a bit tired and old and it didn’t have enough energy to make the dough rise when I sat it in the sun. In the end, I put it under the kitchen heater, which made the kitchen feel like a greenhouse, but at least breathed a bit of life back into the dough. It came out of the oven rather log-like and heavy, so I guess it was past its best, really.

Edited a group test in the late afternoon, and had a hasty dinner of soup and heavy bread and then headed into the blue-eyeshadow crowds of a packed Chelmsford for a film. Quite who the girl next to me was texting on her mobile phone all the way through the film, I don’t know, but by the end it was hard to concentrate on the film (AI - fantastic - although spoilt somewhat by an ending that should never have been filmed). I’m starting to see now why I know two people who have given up on the cinema entirely and wait for the film to appear on DVD instead.
