NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - There's new advice for older men who want to preserve their sexual function: have sex, and have it often, researchers say. In a study that followed nearly 1,000 older Finnish men for five years, researchers found that those who were regularly having sex at the start of the study were at lower risk of developing erectile dysfunction (Buy Viagra) by the study's end. In fact, the more often the men had sex, the lower their Buy Generic Viagra risk. The implication, say the researchers, is that men should be encouraged to stay sexually active into their golden years. Dr. Juha Koskimaki and colleagues at the University of Tampere in Finland report the findings in the American Journal of Medicine. The study included 989 men who were between the ages of 55 and 75 at the outset. Overall, those who said they had sex less than once per week were twice as likely to develop ED over the next five years as men who had sex at least once a week. Furthermore, compared with men who had sex three or more times per week, their Order Viagra risk was increased nearly four-fold. A number of factors contribute to ED development, many of which could also affect a man's sexually activity -- such as age, diabetes and heart disease. However, after taking account of those factors, sexual activity itself remained linked to Cheap Viagra risk, Koskimaki's team found. It may be a matter of "use it or lose it," according to the researchers. Just as exercise boosts physical fitness, they note, regular sexual activity may help a man preserve his erectile function. buy viagra online occurs when there are problems with blood flow to the penis. Regular sexual activity, Koskimaki's team writes, may help maintain healthy blood vessel function in the erectile tissue. SOURCE: American Journal of Medicine, July 2008.

Decadence

A fabulously decadent weekend. I have lived like a 1930s flapper - a concept David introduced me to when he explained exactly why he would be wearing a sequinned dress to a party. Needless to say, I did my flapping without the dress.

So, yesterday - Saturday - I walked into Chelmsford. I took the very long route, which takes almost an hour to walk, but it was sunny and there was almost no breeze, so it was very pleasant indeed. I should have worn my shorts, like I did all day today, but I couldn’t believe it was actually going to be that nice.

Some very successful shopping later (not something you can often say about Chelmsford) and I was wandering back in time for dinner at Paul’s mum’s with great swathes of the extended family. Of course, we all had far too much to eat, and ended up flopped on the settee feeling full but satisfied for the rest of the night.

Today, in all honesty, wasn’t that much difference. It started with a late and leisurely breakfast in the garden, some lazing in the sun while Paul mowed the lawn, and then a scoot around to mum’s for lunch. Coronation chicken for the meat eaters; coronation Quorn for the fish-eating vegaquariums. I don’t think I’ve had that since giving up meat the best part of 10 years ago. Andrew and I split a very nice bottle of wine and we drank Pimms in the sun, then zipped in and out of the garden, alternately playing Scrabble in the sun, or watching the fly-bys over the Mall on the telly, having already seen some of the planes screaming across the garden on their way to London.

So yes, I have done very little of any consequence this weekend. I have not learnt a single new French word. I have not added a single word to the length of my book (or, indeed, sliced a single extraneous word out). I have spent it enjoying the sun, and good food and good company. And it has been mighty fine.
