Was disciplined enough to make breakfast yesterday morning (well, cut and butter a couple of buns) not not quite to get to the gym. Something to do with not sleeping until two in the morning the night before - if that makes sense.

I bumped into Paul on the platform. Evidently he’s had more success at dropping off, so had already been for a workout. It may be tempting fate to say it, but the trains have been running well these last few days and I got to work in almost record time.

Spend the day editing copy that needed to be out of the way and on the server, but much prefering to be playing with the new software that had arrived for review today. Hmmm…

Anyhow, I made up for the last of a gym trip by going straight after work and was shocked at how busy it was. I don’t think I’ve been after work since Christmas, or at least if I have it was nothing like this, but I’m assuming it’s the fact that so many people make a get-fit resolution every New Year that meant there were no machines free. Every treadmill, bike, cross trainer and rowing machine was in use so I spent more time than usual doing weights, which is probably good for a change.

It wasn’t particularly pleasant so I wasn’t worried about staying late at work tonight to get on with the software I had been so excited about yesterday but turned out to be such an early beta that it did little but crash all day long. Most frustrating.

Tonight, when Paul has gone home, shall be an early night so that I can get up in the morning and make up for missing the gym.

Worrying news that The Guardian is laying off 35 people. It was reported on their own web site. The story was written by ‘Staff’. I wonder whether it was someone they were laying off. If so, (s)he was very professional about it. It’s a bit like being told to dig your own grave knowing you’re just about to be shot, really.
