NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - There's new advice for older men who want to preserve their sexual function: have sex, and have it often, researchers say. In a study that followed nearly 1,000 older Finnish men for five years, researchers found that those who were regularly having sex at the start of the study were at lower risk of developing erectile dysfunction (Buy Viagra) by the study's end. In fact, the more often the men had sex, the lower their Buy Generic Viagra risk. The implication, say the researchers, is that men should be encouraged to stay sexually active into their golden years. Dr. Juha Koskimaki and colleagues at the University of Tampere in Finland report the findings in the American Journal of Medicine. The study included 989 men who were between the ages of 55 and 75 at the outset. Overall, those who said they had sex less than once per week were twice as likely to develop ED over the next five years as men who had sex at least once a week. Furthermore, compared with men who had sex three or more times per week, their Order Viagra risk was increased nearly four-fold. A number of factors contribute to ED development, many of which could also affect a man's sexually activity -- such as age, diabetes and heart disease. However, after taking account of those factors, sexual activity itself remained linked to Cheap Viagra risk, Koskimaki's team found. It may be a matter of "use it or lose it," according to the researchers. Just as exercise boosts physical fitness, they note, regular sexual activity may help a man preserve his erectile function. buy viagra online occurs when there are problems with blood flow to the penis. Regular sexual activity, Koskimaki's team writes, may help maintain healthy blood vessel function in the erectile tissue. SOURCE: American Journal of Medicine, July 2008.

Is it really only a week since we came back from our travels? It feels like much longer, but in fact it’s less - 6 days - but being busy has made it feel like I’ve packed in enough to fill a fortnight or two.

That’s kind of why I’ve been lax about writing on here these last couple of days. Barbara has been ill, too, and not waking up from sleep mode when I lift her lid, so I’ve not had easy in-bed web access, which hasn’t helped.

The most prolific updaters are the comment spammers who are really getting out of hand now. I’ve deleted over 30 spam comments in the last two days alone and that’s in spite of banning the IP addresses of a lot of them and putting a delay into the system so nobody can post more than one comment on the entire site without being locked out from adding another for the next five minutes.

Almost all of them (if not ALL of them) are American.

So anyway, we’re off for two days from tomorrow morning, which means I’ll be away from net access, so to try and stop the whole thing being clogged up with spam comments by the time I get back I’ve locked out all commenting until Sunday night. Sorry.

Should be a fun weekend, though, as it’s Will and Bec’s wedding up in Lincoln. After a nasty couple of hours when it looked like we were going to have to drive I found some cheapish tickets online and we’re going by train. I picked them up from Kings Cross this evening and it looks like the run the same kind of trains they do on the TGV lines so it should be comfortable at least - even if it is slower by an order or magnitude.

Gordon and I have been tasked with filming the proceedings, which is a little nerve-wracking as neither or us have that much experience of video cameras. Fortunately Will is being very laid back about it all, which is making us relax a bit. We all met up for a drink on Wednesday so we could go over what he wants and make sure we’ll be in the right place at the right time.

Seems the registrar people in Lincoln have a rule about using only one camera and not taking photos or else they’ll stop the ceremony, which strikes me as unnecessarily draconian.

So, that’s tomorrow. Last night, I met up with David, who I’ve not seen in ages and ages and ages. In fact, it didn’t happen yet again after a bit of a worky thing kept us trapped in the office, but I eventually found him down in Bar Code, which I’m starting to suspect is something of a regular haunt since that’s where he always seems to be when we meet up.

We went to Cafe Fish and ate whitebait, which felt unnecessarily cruel. Lots of little Nemos staring up at us through thinly battered eyes munched up whole. Never had it before so tentatively squeamish about the whole thing to start with, but actually very nice. I’d have it again, even though David described it as ‘genocide on a plate’ then went on to talk about how he made some Japanese tourists throw up in the most polite way ever (complete with bowing actions).

I’m glad it was him who ordered the mackerel pate after that.
