Well, it looks like I may have got away with the gym yesterday as I feel absolutely no ill effects from it today.

What I have been doing, though, is scouting around with somewhere new to go. I don’t think I’m getting value for money from that place, being unable to go nearly as often as I want (or should) because of the hours I’m working. I think somewhere in London near the office, which also has a gym close to home, would be ideal. The only option, though, is Cannons, which is close to both, but I’ve heard some very mixed reports.

Anyhow, I’ve put out the feelers to see what the general concensus seems to be, and I’ll make a decision on the back of that. It’ll be slightly more money, but if it means I use it more then it’ll all average out and be worth it in the long run.

In the meantime, I came across a fantastically motivational site this evening. Purely by chance, as it happens, but quite appropriate. ‘Two Wires Thin’ is about a guy who decided on 6 January last year that he was sick of being fat and unfit so got himself some home gym kit and started eating sensibly and made a massive difference.

To motivate himself he even took a picture every day and posted it on his web site. There’s a week-by-week photographic record of his transformation here.

Now don’t get me wrong. I don’t want to be all lean muscle, and I’m actually quite happy with how I am, but seeing someone so obviously out of shape making a massive difference in even just the first three months is enough to give anyone a kick up the backside in the direction of the nearest gym.

So, I’ve bookmarked the page, and next time I don’t feel motivated to go for a workout I’ll click on it and remind myself.

If he could do it, so can I, and looking at those pictures I reckon I’ve got a nine-week head start.

This guy looks like a live Action Man doll - a living doll! Impressive results, though.

Hmm, have you ever noticed that there is only one vowel difference between FIT and FAT? Makes you wonder about life, doesn’t it?
