The flat saga continues. It’s ten months since I moved out now, and it’s still not rented. It’s freshly painted. It’s cheaper than the others in the road. It’s been with two agents.

All was going swimingly three or four months ago when the first potential tenant got to the point of signing up and then pulled out on d-day. Then in the last few week, potential tenant number two was going the same way until… they went precisely the same way. They were set to sign on the line today and pulled out.

Seems the company that was going to rent it for a contractor is having financial problems. They failed the credit check, have just moved out of their town centre offices, and have decided to put the contractor into a hotel instead - most likely, my agent assures me, so that they can work on a week-by-week basis, rather than committing for six months.

So, what now. Ten months and back to square one. Time to sell? Time to try yet another agent? Give up for a while and try again in a couple of months’ time? Perhaps there’s no call for two-bed flats in Chelmsford.

Hmmm…

Today was Ross’s birthday, so we went to The Roxy on Rathbone Place. Bizarre. We were the only ones in there, which gave us the opportunity to complain about the wrist-slashing music. The barman, suggested replacing it with reggae, which was perhaps a threat. Two or four drinks later, depending on how early in happy hour you arrived, we decanted to six degrees so we could sit on the pavement and watch people walk by, trying to sell us things we didn’t want.
