The best news in a long long time arrived in my email today with a message from a guy called Jeremy saying that he had taken over publishing my book from Joyce. Perhaps now things will actually start moving again. It’s ironic, really, because it was only yesterday that I was reading through the contract again and putting big biro circles around all the changes we had agreed between us and she had not implemented in the ammended contract. He’s asked for a couple of amendments, which are not a problem, but I feel far more motivated by this project again now.

As I was getting to the end of writing the book I came up with an idea for another subject in the same series, but decided it was more bother than it was worth to actually suggest it to Joyce, so let it quietly die. After I’ve made these amendments, I think I might try and resurrect it and see what happens. I was smiling for the rest of the afternoon.

We all went out to lunch at Masala Zone to welcome Dylan to the team, and I had my usual pumpkin dumplings (who says I’m predictable). They’d done something different to the sauce today - it was very red and suspiciously like what had been poured over the buttered chicken, so I’m hoping it was meat free. Mark ordered lemonade, which turned out to be home made and full of brown bits none of us could identify. By the time it had been passed around the table and we’d all either sniffed or sipped it Chris worked out what it was: cumin! There by design rather than accident, it would seem.
