Well, first post-Christmas trip back to the gym was pretty painless, on account of the stupid opening hours and doing a dry-run insert for LBC shortly after six. All the new shows are being tested out in the days before the station relaunches on FM next week, which of course means they need guests, experts and correspondents to fill the necessary gaps.
Wittered on about multimedia phones for a while, while hidden away at the back of the lab in a vain and rather flawed attempt to be somewhere quiet. There were so many machines and servers whirring away in the background I may as well have stayed at my desk.
Fairly fun, and while on hold got to hear long chunks of the rehearsal for LBC Nightly News, scheduled for seven every night. It sounds great. Lively, brash, very dynamic. Quite different from the old-style pre-Christmas LBC news.
So, arrived at the gym at eight, expecting a good full hour, only for them to announce it would be closing at half past, to give us all half an hour to use the showers. Why anyone would need half an hour, I don’t know, but it meant there was barely time for a run and some sit-ups.
Anyhow - did it, and now feel decidedly less guilty about my lax attendence. Tomorrow will be a more worthwhile effort.
