I’m feeling somewhat hoarse after a late night of karaoke last night. I was determined not to get sucked into it, but we’d already been out all night and most of the afternoon at the races and somehow… well, it seemed the logical next step.

The horse racing was at Windsor. We all had to dress up smartish (or at least swap our jeans for trousers and t-shirts for collars) and meet at Victoria for a coach to the course. A much easier journey than the last time I went to the races, which was in Paris and required a certain amount of jumping over metro ticket barriers. The weather was better, too.

We had a private box with dinner overlooking the track, but settled down on the lawn for champagne to start. The sun was fantastic, and almost blinding, but it was very pleasant sitting there listening to the silly brass band playing typically Pimms-esque tunes.
