In a rush

What a marvellous feeling to know that I don’t have to go to work again for a whole two weeks. That’s not to say there’s anything wrong with where I work - simply the concept of work. Two weeks of rolling around the French countryside on trains and bikes starts tomorrow morning and I can’t wait.
We leave Chelmsford on the 7am train and catch the Eurostar to Paris at Waterloo. Two days there, quaffing croissants and Orangina, then the TGV down to Lyon for three nights. We leave there on Thursday afternoon, which is a shame, because ITN has studios there, so if we’d been there an extra night I could have done a split-location show with Gordon. From Lyon to Avignon for five days with dad, then we follow the coast to the Spanish border before cutting north to Bordeaux (where apparently mum and dad once almost checked into a brothel thinking it was a hotel - or so the story goes). Three or four days there, then TGV back up to Paris for another night in time for the Eurostar back to London.
How exciting. I can’t wait.
I still have loads to do tonight - like pack, for example, and it’s getting late. Hoover the carpets, clean the bathroom, do the washing up, pack, double check the tickets, panic, then pop around to mum’s. Must dash.
