This week has flown by. It’s already early Thursday morning, which although I still need to grab two nights’ sleep technically means I’ll be heading off on my trip tomorrow. With this in mind, I made a half-hearted attempt to put some clothes at least close by my bag, but ended up cutting my hair instead, so I’m still a long way off being ready to go.
It’s been a good week so far, though. Monday night, a team trip to the Gaylord. Cue lots of highly predictable sniggering behind cupped hands and a rolling out of all the predictable jokes. It was apparently originally Gailord, named after the first proprietor, but they switched the ‘i’ for a ‘y’ to Anglicise it. Hmmm.
None of us could decide whether it was the first or second Indian restaurant in the UK, and Wikipedia is proving surprisingly useless on the subject, so in the interests of safety I’ll opt for second. Whatever its provenance, though, the food was excellent, and as always when you head out for Indian, there was plenty for the non-meaties.
Last night - Tuesday - to The Roxy for Ross’s birthday. It was, fortunately, much better than last year when I seem to recall we ended up leaving after half an hour and heading on somewhere with less bad music. This time around, a much better turn-out, and no inexplicable plastic horses on the table, either, which should probably be taken as a Good Thing.
It’s very hot.
Which brings us to today and a rather pleasant briefing in The Hub in the middle of Regent’s Park, which consisted largely of eating lots of salad and fruit while sitting outside in the sun, and then being packed off with a new set of trainers after a very brief briefing. Could do with more like that. I also learnt that Nike’s UK PR manager for ‘Running’ is rather appropriately (or perhaps a little too conveniently) called Johnny Trainer.
