Lunch at La Tasca by that bizarre Chelmsford street sign pointing to ‘Backnang 950km’. After making everyone get up and showered and dressed earlier than anyone wanted on the assurance the place would be practically queueing out the door, it was almost empty and we were sat down with a jug of sangria in two minutes flat.
We did the inevitable tapas thing of ordering far to much, forgetting what we’d wanted and then just piling it up in front of random people but all left feeling stuffed and went home to watch films and eat nuts. And some After Eights I found in the back of a cupboard in the kitchen where they’d clearly melted and reformed so many times they’d turned into minty biscuits.
We settled on Amelie in the end. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve seen it now, but as I made it to the cafe where it’s set last month it was interesting to see again. In fact, I could quite happily sit through it time and time and time again if anyone could put up with it with me.
In spite of that it ran for far longer than I remembered, so by the time it drew to its familiar close, Sal, Dan and dad were rushing off and I went to the gym with Paul. First time in… ummm… probably a fortnight.
My guilt was somewhat lessened when I got on the scales and found that in spite of all the long lunches I’ve been having my weight hasn’t budged from 10stone, so did an hour on the running machine and came out feeling righteous. Particularly as I noticed around the 2km mark that Steve’s Challenge and the Midnight Weatherman were just arriving and by the time I’d got to 7.5km they were gone.

10 Stone? how come, that’s just not fair. Can you set out your weeks food and drink consumption for me to follow?

You did an hour on the running machine? How can you possibly do an hour on the running machine? That is simply inhuman!
