It’s nice to know that tomorrow is my last day in the office before heading off on holiday, but no matter how good the break - or when you take it - you always end up doing double the work in your last few days so things don’t fall behind.

So, it was a late night tonight, stuck at my desk editing pages that need to be laid out when I’m gone, and it looks like tomorrow will be the same.

I did get time to take a decent lunch, fortunately, and so took the more style-wise members of the team off down Oxford Street to help me buy new sunglasses. My old ones were stolen when my car got broken into the night of the questionable Timberlake concert.

Which reminds me - I’ve still not reported that to the police. I guess it’s a bit late now.

(Reported the theft, I mean - not the concert, regardless of how criminally bad I found it).

Anyhow, after trying on just about every pair on the street I settled on some that they liked rather more than I did. Nothing fundamentally wrong with them. Just the colour. And the shape. I like the arms, though, and I’m sure that the rest will grow on me from there. Still, they were rediculously cheap and offered all the regular UV protection so they should keep my peepers safe while I’m reading on the beach, and at that price I’m not going to be too distressed if they’re scratched / lost / stolen / melted onto my face by the sun.

Looking at the online weather reports, it’s going to be painfully hot.

Now I just need to decide what to do with my hair. Half of me says shave it short. The other half is begging for it to be left just the way it is. The advantage of the first option is that it’s not going to get so full of sea water and beach-stylee gunk and grit. The advantage of the second is that I’ll still look at least vaguely like my passport.

Then again, my passport picture is nine years old now, and my hair back then was so long it almost reached my belt, so I guess taking it a wee bit shorter won’t make so much difference.

Hmmm… I feel some coin tossing coming on.
