Just stumbledupon your site. You have my deepest sympathies. We rescued a cat a few months ago, got it neutered, chipped, vaccinated, only for it to be hit by a speeding car (that didn’t stop). Went into a coma. Brain damage apparently. Saddest day of my life, cried non-stop for nearly six hours. A week later, the cat that I’d had since I was 10 years old (15 years ago) walked out and never came back, presumably gone to look for the rescuee.
However, as I write this I have two beautiful kittens making teeny claw holes in my brand new combats. There’ll be others. Never a replacement, but others, I’m sure.

My consolations, mate. We lost our dog, who’d we’d had for nearly 10 years, a few months ago; one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do was telling the vet is was OK to put him to sleep.
My deepest sympathies.
