Back to work in heavy, heavy rain. The wind has died down, but by the time I got to my desk, one train delayed by an hour later, I was drenched. Had about 750 emails to deal with after a fortnight off, many of which got deleted simply on the strength of their subject lines, and then I was filled in on all the gossip that I missed while I was away - not that I really needed it - I’d read most of it on The Register already. There are a few glum faces after a round of job cuts.
My post was a lot more interesting - lots of nice products came in for review while I was away ready to be played with today, and reviewed next week.
Leo flew off to Milan at lunchtime, although I thought for a while he wouldn’t make it after two planes crashed there this morning and then one of them ploughed into a baggage handling building. He never arrived back in the office mid-afternoon, so I have to assume he got there alright.
Came home and cooked three days’ worth of pasta and sauce with fresh peppers and tomato and put it in the fridge to cool. I thought coming back from holiday was a good point to start making a determined effort to take my own lunch in to work instead of buying, and pasta salad is an easy one to start on. I’ll try rice and potatoes next week.
