A campaign against spam sent by fax. What a fantastic idea. We get so much tumbling out of our fax machine I’m often inclined to just unplug it. All fantastic deals, of course, and all too good to be true - reposessed houses from

Nik, this company used to bombard me with faxes. I joined the FPS and within a month it all stopped. If you join the fax pref service (you can do it online) you can include as many numbers as you like. Also, if after joining you still get unwanted faxes you can tell the sender that they are breaking the law and you will report them unless they stop.
A new problem is arrising however. Companies like this are starting to send via off-shore telcos top avoid being prosecuted so I have gone another step further than them. My incoming fax number is now an 0870 national number which sends my faxes to my email box (www.efax.com). Junk faxers are less likely to use an 0870 code, furthermore, being able to display the fax on screen before printing allows you to delete the crap.

The solid areas of black mean that it will take longer to send and will earn them even more money

Sadly, the fax preferences service only works for domestic households (and small businesses, I think). i.e. you can’t register your office fax no.
My home phone number used to get a huge number of incoming faxes - often repeatedly in the middle of the night. I’d love to know what kind of a positive response they actually get. There must be SOME kind of benefit to them. Although introduce me to the people who send them out and I’ll show you a dead man.

Hi there, I know that you can join FPS etc, but why should I have too. What they are doing is illegal, why should I have to prove my innocense…
Anyway the worm is going to turn, I am setting up a web site for passive resistance, and am compiling a list of these companies where I shall have my revenge.
What I am looking for is a group of people who would like to turn their fax machines over to the cause so we shall start to fax the evil corporations.
Once the list off all the mail companies is compiled, I shall be going off down to Companies House to get a list of owners, and directors (by law they have to list thier home numbers), and then my friends we can start to call them at 3 in the morning and see if they like it.
If you are interested in helping email me. I should have a web site online soon…
thanks for listening to my rant…

I receive on average 10 to 12 junk faxes a day less than 3-5 legit faxes per week. It seems my rolls of fax paper are almost entirely for the benefit of the Junk-smiths.
