Tea calamity

Well, I made it into the office today. Nice though it would have been to have spent another day at home the trains were running sufficiently well as not to provide an acceptable excuse. They were horribly full, though, and I ended up walking half way to the office because I couldn’t get onto a tube.
I took my tea straight down to the lab when I got in, to fiddle with the bits and bobs I should have taken a look at yesterday and in the process of catching said bits (or bobs) ended up throwing half the cupful down (or rather up) my front.
Hmmm…
Hot tea very rapidly turned into a wet brown stain. Everyone was too polite to mention it and did that pained ‘I’m not going to look down’ expression as I passed them on the stairs on my way to collect my coat and go out to buy a new top.
I ended up in Muji where the shelves were clearly labelled by gender. The rest of Carnaby Street - the closest to the office - is far too confusing and I’d probably have ended up walking out with a teenage girl’s spangled crop top otherwise.
It’s a very trendy t-shirt, in a nice camouflage green, so I blend in well in Soho Square. Double stitched hems. Nice and thick so easy to iron… theoretically.
Very productive afternoon, followed by a delayed train home that rather put me off the gym. Came home instead to find a broken Linux PC. Guess I spoke to soon. Something to do with the network card as it can’t get onto the net. I’m reduced to connecting through a dial-up modem.
The indignity of it all…
