I’m feeling a little delicate this morning. I’m putting it down to one of two things. It was either the unidentified red shots at the Handspring party at Belgo last night (they tasted good, they were served by a man in a monk’s cassock, so why should I think to ask), or it was the moonshine secreted in every course that I didn’t account for.

It didn’t help that I had work to do when I got home, so was proofing pages until well into this morning.

On the train home there was a guy in green. He was the spit of a bug catcher. Long, spindly limbs. Wide, busy eyes, gistening and wet. A nervous twitch on the side of his sunken face.

Then he moved his arm and his jacket fell open, revealing the badge on his jumper. ‘Terminix Environmental Services’. Strangely appropriate.

Old buddy … say … er … did you know everyone in the Swiss Army owns a Swiss Army Knife. That’s why no one messes with Switzerland. But what would you know? You haven’t lived. No-one’s lived until they’ve seen Bonanza dubbed in French-Canadian.)
