It’s been a strange day today. I got in to the office early with the specific intention of getting some emails out for guests for this week’s show, but the network failure that had been the eventual cause of me leaving last night still had not been fixed, so we were without email or net access until mid-morning. By half ten, though, I’d already had three calls from PR agencies offering clients. All were interesting topical stories, so all were booked on the spot.
I haven’t been back to Bagelmania since the spoon episode, so lunched with Mark and Wendy, the two newest members of our team, in Soho Square, which is far less ‘meedjya’ and more bohemian than Golden Square. It does get full, though, and there’s always the worry of pidgeon poo, but if you can avoid that and the old man who has been sunbathing there for the last four summers in his underpants, it’s not a bad place to have lunch.
On the way back to the office, having successfully avoided the pigeons, I somehow managed to get some kind of red fruit all over my shoes. I can still see the stain now.
Burnt through another two work units on the cancer cure thing. It’s strangely satisfying having that running while you’re working away in the background. I installed another copy on my Windows PC at home this evening while simultaneously fixing a dodgy Linux installation on my other machine and doing stuff for work.
Was planning to go and pick up that cupboard from Ikea, but things transpired and it never happened. Guess I’ll have to bear it again at the weekend when it’s full of families and screaming kids.
