I have made a mental note not to cut my hair as soon as I wake up in the morning. I was half way through doing just that this morning, not fully awake, when I realised that it was impossible to tell which bits of hair were still long and which were just standing on end because they’d been slept on all night. I ended up trimming off more and more until I’d taken off more than I wanted. Still, it looks smartish and it’ll not be so soon that I have to do it again.

The afternoon throwing-out session started an hour late, and not everyone joined in, but those of us who did managed to fill two huge bins and build an enormous pile of unwanted and unneeded kit around all the sides of one of them. So, I caught the train back to Chelmsford and went to the gym for a bit, then came home for some dinner and unpacked the flight case, inside of which was an Internet phone.

I was very impressed that Windows recognised what it was as soon as I plugged it in and never asked for any software to run it. I logged on to Callserve, bought
