Searching for wonky paving pics through Google brings up my site as the first hit… for some reason.
Elsewhere on the net, the International Herald Tribune ran a fantastic story today about Nasa trying to buy 20-year old processors and 8in disks on eBay. Apparently they are key to keeping the Space Shuttle fleet running.
When the Shuttles were developed 20 years ago these bits and bobs were considered the height of technology. Now, of course, they are hopelessly out of date and difficult to get your hands on. Apparently the Shuttle was only designed as a stopgap measure to be used for ten years or so, but now they could be in service until 2020 or later and spare parts are getting scarce.
Graham Palmer, Intel’s PR guy, was talking about the story on The World Tonight on Radio 4.
