Warming up

I feel very good about things today, and I don’t know why. There’s no reason why I shouldn’t. Everything feels very settled and in place, though.
Since we moved to our new desks we have all been feeling cold. The engineers were in one day before Christmas fiddling with the heating, banging on things and tweaking dials, but it didn’t seem to make any difference to where we sit. The rest of the building is toasty warm, so we feel a bit left out.
Fortunately we complained just in time as they were back this morning, so our little area could be added to their list of jobs. They pulled off the wall panels to reveal dusty brown radiators behind them, on which they did some more banging. They diagnosed a blocked valve.
The banging must have dislodged some muck or something, because within half an hour there was tepid air coming out of the grilles and my knees, always the first things to suffer in the cold, didn’t scream for attention at all.
I think the weather is easing off a bit too, though, which could be helping. The Chelmer certainly wasn’t frozen right across this morning, and my car didn’t stall once.
Had a major blitz on guests for next week’s show. Sent out eight invites, so we’ll see what happens.
