I would like to coin a new expression: writer’s blog.

Effectively the opposite of writer’s block, it’s a noun to describe the phenomenon where you’re doing so much writing you have no time to blog on a regular basis.

It’s been a busy week. Tuesday I ended up working from 8am until eleven that night, got home at quarter to one the next morning and was back in the office by half eight. Someone else on the team worked longer hours than me that night, though, so I feel I got off quite lightly.

I think, on a rough totting-up, though, I’ve written about 12,000 words for publication this last fortnight. That’s not as many as I’ve proof-read but it does at least make me feel a bit better about the lack of book progress. It’s been on the back burned for almost five months now, so it’s pretty much melted and welded itself to the element, but I did have a flash of inspiration while wandering around Borders today, so perhaps I’ll retrieve it soon.

It’s been a good week, but I’m glad it’s over, and I’m looking forward to a weekend of not looking at a computer screen.

Then again, perhaps I should be revising my general knowledge. Team MacUser didn’t do so well in the office pub quiz on Thursday night, with about two thirds of the other mags coming in ahead of us - we were 10th out of a possible 14.

Still, at least we weren’t texting on our phones while the questions were being read out…
