Christmas. The time of year when the TV networks make a special effort to keep us entertained. So, what festive treats does the BBC have in store for us this year?
I Want to be Mary: ‘This coming Christmas BBC One are making a new and exciting festive programme: I Want To Be Mary. We’ve all been there and proudly watched our children, as shepherds adjusted tea-towel headdresses and the Virgin Mary declared that she needed the toilet… We are appealing to proud parents, guardians and family members who would like to see their children elevated from school play to small screen.’
Danger Zone: ‘ The BBC is making a prime-time one-off programme based on Christmas disasters. We’re looking for real-life stories of what can go wrong over Christmas. Perhaps your Christmas pudding exploded, or maybe you did something you later regretted at the office Christmas party. Or did your dog swallow a Christmas bauble and you spent all of Christmas day in the vets!’
Hmmm… pass the remote.

Exactly! Better read a book or two instead. Do you Brits have the tradition of book giving at Christmas? For me there is no Christmas without books. My worst Christmases are when I only get one book or none.

Kristin, I also love getting books at christmas but most people I speak to say they hate, socks, books and smellies which tend to be traditions as you say.

Giving people socks means you care for their wellbeing, that you want them to keep their feet warm, especially if you’ve knitted them yourself
People are so ungrateful.
