“Quantum Of Solace doesn’t seem like a major entry in the Bond canon. Well under two hours long, it’s shorter and more frenetic than most of its predecessors, and an often-jolting experience to watch.”

“The move comes after passengers in the First Class dining car complained that they were being annoyed by the noise of spoons making tinkling sounds as they sit on saucers.”
They should try sitting in standard class (where we still get cardboard cups instead). I’d love for it to be quiet enough for a rattly teaspoon to be the loudest, most annoying thing on my journey to work, instead of noisy natterers on mobile phones.

“New research suggests that the type of television you watched as a child has a profound effect on the colour of your dreams.
While almost all under 25s dream in colour, thousands of over 55s, all of whom were brought up with black and white sets, often dream in monchrome – even now.”

“Other pet disasters revealed by the study include a cat that tried to sniff a candle and singed the whiskers off one side of her head and a dog that swallowed a pair of knickers and landed its owner with a £1,200 vet’s bill to have them recovered.”

“Quantum of Solace isn’t as good as Casino Royale: the smart elegance of Craig’s Bond debut has been toned down in favour of conventional action.”

I suspect the problems with the film will stem from it not having been derived from a Fleming novel. Casino Royale seemed to be the ‘rebirth’ of the franchise — returning to the first book and, equally, a determined effort to stick close to the story all seemed to be key factors in it’s appeal.
QoS, the short story, would have been a very dull film to be sure (although I really hope that the story is in the film somewhere). But nobody seems to write Bond quite like Fleming — nope, not even Sebastian Faulks…
Hmmm… Are posts like this one created automagically from your del.icio.us account? If so, clever…
@ James Spinks. Although interesting, I think that including any of the original story of Quantum of Solace in the film would be quite tricky. It’s got very little action, and I’m not sure how a jilted husband getting revenge on his wife by saddling her with the remainder of his higher-purchase payments would fit; particularly as Bond isn’t so much jilted as bereaved.
On the feed point… yes, it is drawn from my Delicious account. Much easier than coding it by hand.
