NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - There's new advice for older men who want to preserve their sexual function: have sex, and have it often, researchers say. In a study that followed nearly 1,000 older Finnish men for five years, researchers found that those who were regularly having sex at the start of the study were at lower risk of developing erectile dysfunction (Buy Viagra) by the study's end. In fact, the more often the men had sex, the lower their Buy Generic Viagra risk. The implication, say the researchers, is that men should be encouraged to stay sexually active into their golden years. Dr. Juha Koskimaki and colleagues at the University of Tampere in Finland report the findings in the American Journal of Medicine. The study included 989 men who were between the ages of 55 and 75 at the outset. Overall, those who said they had sex less than once per week were twice as likely to develop ED over the next five years as men who had sex at least once a week. Furthermore, compared with men who had sex three or more times per week, their Order Viagra risk was increased nearly four-fold. A number of factors contribute to ED development, many of which could also affect a man's sexually activity -- such as age, diabetes and heart disease. However, after taking account of those factors, sexual activity itself remained linked to Cheap Viagra risk, Koskimaki's team found. It may be a matter of "use it or lose it," according to the researchers. Just as exercise boosts physical fitness, they note, regular sexual activity may help a man preserve his erectile function. buy viagra online occurs when there are problems with blood flow to the penis. Regular sexual activity, Koskimaki's team writes, may help maintain healthy blood vessel function in the erectile tissue. SOURCE: American Journal of Medicine, July 2008.

Sweaty Bush

Is President Bush sweating? I hope he is. As I sit here on the settee, typing into the iBook on my lap, I’m watching News 24, and the live pictures of New York, one of hundreds of cities across the north east of America suffering a complete power blackout.

This is what happens when the world heats up and a whole country switches on its air-con units. And why does the world heat up? Because foolish leaders choose to spurn international treaties on reducing climate-changing pollution because it would be economically questionable.

Well, how economically questionable would it be if the New York Stock Exchange couldn’t open tomorrow morning because of the power outage? Add that to the cost of rescuing all the people trapped in tube trains, or at the top of buildings where the lifts no longer work, and where there is no water because the pumps that gets it to the top of the buildings sit silent.

Spend a little on respecting and protecting the world, Mr Bush, and you will reap the benefits many times over.

In the words of the BBC:

Announcing [his alternative to the Kyoto Treaty on climate change] on Thursday, Mr Bush argued that economic growth is the key to environmental protection because it pays for the means to invest in cleaner industries.

Economic growth in New York right now: nil. Time to invest in cleaner industries: now.

The “Shrub” is a dangerous man… I didn’t vote for him and if my citizenship comes through in time, I’ll vote against him and his party in November 2004.

Ignorance and stupidity are dangerous things when it comes to leading a country. And just look at the people who surround him, the very same people that our prime minister is so proud to brow-nose with.

I am rather concerned about this mindless libertarianism that is taking over the world. You can’t just look into how much things cost, you have to look at the bigger picture, like you say, how much things cost in the long run. That’s good economics for you. And you can’t ignore the environment. It will always find a way to get back at you.
