An act of sheer stupidity

In my last entry I said I hoped the British and American forces would let their actions speak for themselves and reassure the Arab world. Acts of sheer stupidity such as the draping of the American flag on the landmarks of Baghdad, will do nothing to further that cause.

I agree that this is stupid. However, in their defence, I was watching the rolling coverage at that time and the flag was drapped over for no longer than a minute then taken off. They then did the same thing with the Iraqi flag which was also quickly moved. The Sky reporter had said the crowd encouraged it for photo opportunities but that the troops were not prepared to leave then there for longer than a minute.
The anti-papers have all picked up on it in true distortive UK press style but I think the Americans are fully aware of the neg-press that can be attached to that kind of picture.
Once again the press not showing the full picture - time for another tabloid burn-a-thon I feel
