It’s such a lovely day today. The sun is blazing, and all you can hear is the far-off sounds of neighbours chattering beyond their fences.

I have binned the agents letting my flat. They are taking a dog’s age to sort out getting me a tennant and as I passed the six-month anniversary of not living there any more I thought it was time to get someone else on the case. So, on Friday I called Belvoir, who went around to take a look at the flat and reckon they can get someone in there - with all the furniture in tact - in a couple of weeks, on more rent and while taking less commission.

It was a no-brainer, so I walked into town and back again yesterday morning to hand over my keys and then spent this morning filling out their forms.

Fully formed-out by lunchtime, we went around the corner for a drink at The Angel, but ended up staying for lunch, sitting in the sun in the beer garden, and then coming home to lay on rugs on the freshly mown lawn.

After an hour or so, there was a scampering by the fence, and we looked over to see a tiny little rabbit hopping along the edge of the lawn. As soon as it saw us it froze, almost like it had spotted some headlights, and then, after a moment’s thought, turned on its tail and bounded down the alleyway at the side of the house to sit in relative safety behind the bins.
