(above) Trevor and Jon sitting on the plinth of the statue of St Stephen in the old town inside the walls of Budapest Castle. This was our first day in the city, and the weather was fantastic. We were lucky that it held our for our whole time there, contrary to what BBC World wanted us to believe.

(above) Detail of the holocaust memorial in the grounds of the synagogue in Budapest. It is the second largest synagogue in Europe, and stands on one corner of what was once the Jewish ghetto in the second world war. 200,000 people were moved into just 2,000 homes in the ghetto during the war.
