Spuggies in the garden

On the radio this morning they said it would be 500 degrees today. I think they were lying, but all the same, it’s a glorious day. I have thrown open all of the windows and doors, moved the kitchen table out onto the lawn and am sitting in the shade of a tree writing writing writing away at the novel.
Or at least I’m supposed to be writing writing writing away. In actual fact, I’m getting distracted. I sit there with the camera beside me, the cat curling herself around my legs and the horse watching me from the meadow, which is full of buttercups and bathed in brilliant bright sunlight.
I do so enjoy cat sitting when mum is off on holiday. A week away from home in a house with a long pretty garden running down to the meadow, a conservatory to sit in while I drink tea, and an alarm call each morning that is an excitable chorus of a thousand tiny birds perched on the branches of the trees.
It’s mainly sparrows today. Scooty little brown things flitting back and forth between the leaves and the nut machine as I take their pictures with my camera. If I don’t get this book finished, it will be all their fault.

Love your photos, Nik. Good luck with the writing, though. Hope you don’t get too distracted.
