Look at me! I’m in bed. I’ve finally joined the wireless revolution, and not before time, and so here I am, snuggled under the duvet, clicking around online. Yes, I know there are far better things to do in bed, but this is still something of a novelty.

It was incredibly easy, although the instructions in the Airport Extreme access point book didn’t quite match what happened in real life. I ended up guessing the right settings, and they worked - first time. If anything, I think this network is running faster than my wired LAN ever was, even though the card in the iBook is only 11Mb/s.

Was a bit disappointed to find my Windows notebook didn’t see the access point, as I thought it had wireless networking built in, but ho-hum, it’s not one I use often, so it’s not such a chore to connect it by cables now and then.

Listened to some dreadful play on Radio 4 while I was setting it up. Can’t usually be doing with the drama on there, although I listen to the rest of its output pretty much 24/7. It was called Stratford, Ilford, Romford and all stations to Shenfield, though, which of course is the line I ride home from work every night. It was so far removed from reality, though, I seriously wonder whether the writer had ever travelled on the line.

All about people falling in love after standing on each others’ feet (more likely to get you a smack in the mouth in real life) or having mad rampant sex in the onboard toilets. Ended up switching it off after 40 minutes when it had gone beyond the point of getting on my nerves and had a mad tidy up instead.

Wow, I can’t get over that idea for a subject for a whole play - a bit clich
