On the radio this morning: ‘avoid travelling to France today if at all possible.’
Bum.
I’m going to France today.
Oh, but it gets worse. According to the BBC:
Around half of Paris’ metro lines are affected by the strike, while only one third of suburban trains are said to be operating. Queues have been building up at train stations in the capital, Reuters reports. Outside the Paris area, transport authorities said that 40% of regional services were running as well as 60% of high-speed intercity lines.
I’m getting there by train. In theory.
But it gets worse.
My meetings are in the Grande Arch in La Defense, one leg of which is home, I believe, to the farmers’ union, while the other leg is the offices of the social security. And the strikes are by public sector workers.
So we’re probably going to be surrounded by picket lines.
Happy happy happy.
